There are memories of sunny days in Emberglade and the house on top of the hill, windows open and white curtains flowing like wings...

Memories of Sygnya reaching to put her arms around her neck, a grateful look on her face.

"Mother".

Memories of Tolaan, as he holds her hand and looks deep into her eyes, while calmness suddenly fills her soul.

Leaning against his strong body, his arms encircling her into warmth.

Waking up in their bed in the morning.

Sound of joyful laughter.

There are all these,but there is much more than that. It's like staying in front of a closed door and listening to the sounds on the other side.

The door cracks open.

No, it's more like sitting on the edge of a precipice, staring down into the abyss. And the abyss stares back at her, reaching out with thousand tendrils.

Fire, and frost and fire, burning at her fingertips. All the power flowing through her body as if she is nothing more than a lightning rod, channeling it into existence.

Fire and frost, fight and death...

A scream of agony. A cold night. Arms gathering her unconscious,limp body and holding her close. Close, so close, until she drowns in the sheer ecstasy which is to take and to give, as he drains her magic away...

A prayer in the morning.

Glittering sun...

Darkened eyes,from which all light has faded...

And she still falls, spinning endlessly through the void...
